Rate Limits & Quotas

To ensure fair usage and platform stability, the Hapn API enforces rate limits and daily quotas. These limits are applied per clientId, meaning each client's usage is tracked independently.

Limits

The Hapn API enforces the following default limits:

Daily Quota5,000 requests/day
Throttle Rate10 requests/second
Burst5 concurrent requests

Daily Quota: The maximum number of requests your can make within a 24-hour period. The counter resets every day.

  • Throttle Rate: The maximum sustained number of requests per second you can make.
  • Burst: The maximum number of requests that can be served simultaneously in a very short spike before throttling kicks in.

Exceeding Limits

If you exceed the throttle rate or burst limit, the API will respond with a 429 Too Many Requests error. If you exceed your daily quota, requests will also be rejected with a 429 response until the quota resets.

It is recommended to implement retry logic with exponential backoff in your client to handle these responses gracefully.

Requesting a Higher Quota

If your integration requires a higher quota, please contact our Customer Success team to discuss a possible extension of your limits.
